Dress Properly

Just like wearing swimsuits to the beach, surfing requires you to wear an appropriate outfit. A good outfit to wear while you surf is a pair of board shorts and a rash guard. These will be helpful in protecting you from the scorching heat of the sun and protection against developing rashes from the board’s wax as well.

Choose the Right Board

Since you will be riding the surf board for the first time, it is best not to invest on an expensive board. Buying a second hand board or renting might sound like a good idea as you are not yet sure that this sport is fit for you. A good beginner surfboard is thick enough to float you well and wide enough so it is stable in the water. Softboards which are made of foam are the best choice for beginners as this has the best floating ability.

It’s all About the Fun!

Surfing is not an easy sport to learn. You will have to stumble a few times before you learn the trick. Don’t be frustrated and try again. You just have to keep on practicing to get better.  Anyway, this activity is supposed be about having fun.

Overcome your Fear

Experiencing fear on the first day is normal. Everybody get scared sometimes, especially when this activity would have you falling off for a few times before you learn how balance on the board. Work on your fear and hop on your board. As you surf and conquer your first wave, your fear shall be turned into happiness and your determination shall be rewarded

Find a Good Spot

While you’re starting out, it is best to find a place where you can practice as much. Find a beach with small, crumbling waves to get you through your first lesson. Also, it is best to surf on a beach with a few people. Make sure there are a few people around to help you if in case untoward incidents happen.

Get ready on your first surfing lesson and don’t forget to have tons of fun!
